Identity, Character & Persistence:

  • A Zombie's identity is established by the recipe that is used to make the Basis from which the Zombie is generated.  Therefore you may find it helpful if you follow through in these ways:

    • If you make or modifiy a recipe, give the new recipe file a name that is suitable for a fictional, undead Zombie.

    • Include in your recipe directions to use the Zombie's name as the hostname.

  • A Zombie's character is established by the data in /mnt/keep/sys.  It is suggested that you use file /mnt/keep/Pedigree to reflect the pedigree of the Zombie.  For example, when you use a provided Keep directory from SAM.Zombie You will find that the that Pedigree file provided has the volume label in it for my ZombieDrive, prefixed by my name.  When I give the Keep directory to you, you may change this Pedigree if you wish, but if you leave it, then you have a record of where the /mnt/keep/sys directory came from.  This is only a convenience.  You may use the Pedigree file in some other way, if you like, or you may immitate my use by reflecting your own pedigree  Note that the Pedigree information is echoed in the output of the zombie_info command (in /usr/local/bin).

For example, a Pedigree for a Keep directory from me might look like this:

    • JosephRosevear.191026aa2Keep

And if you choose to change it, it might afterwards look like this:

    • YourName.260310aa2Keep

Use your name and volume label, of course.

  • The Zombie's persistence methods are also defined by /mnt/keep/sys, and the persistence data itself lives in /mnt/keep/usr.  You are free therefore to use the persistence methods and initial persistence data that I provide in an example Keep directory, or you may copy and modify it if you wish.
